Johann Heinrich Keerl

Johann Heinrich Keerl (born February 4, 1759 in Heidenheim (Middle Franconia) ; died January 22, 1810 in Ansbach ) was a German lawyer and writer .

Life

Keerl was the son of Johann Peter Keerl, councilor and administrator of the Heidenheim monastery . After attending grammar school in Ansbach, he studied law at the University of Erlangen and then entered the margravial Ansbach administrative service. In 1787 he became court and government secretary there, 1795 government and consistorial assessor, 1803 government and pupil council . After the margraviate of Ansbach became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 , Keerl was finally appointed judge of appeals in Ansbach in 1808 .

On May 9, 1789, he married Anna Margarethe Messerer. His daughter Amalie (1805-1830) was later the wife of the archaeologist Joseph Anselm Feuerbach and the mother of the painter Anselm Feuerbach .

In addition to his legal and administrative work, Keerl was also the author of a tragedy, author of numerous occasional poems, translator and co-editor of two popular philosophical magazines. He belonged to the circle of Bavarian late reconnaissance and was a widely known and valued personality among his contemporaries. His collection of songs, songs and chants for friends of social entertainment , has been published several times. Today he is almost forgotten.
