Johann Heinrich Woldemar
Johann Heinrich Woldemar (Latvian German name Johans Heinrihs Voldemārs , Lat. Name Indriķis Valdemārs ; born August 28, 1819 in Wezjunkur, Gem. Saßmacken ( Kurland ), † October 8, 1880 in Mitau ) was an archivist and local history researcher . He was of Latvian origin , but later confessed to being German. He is considered the first Latvian archivist, but is also considered a German-Baltic .
life and work
Woldemar wrote numerous treatises on the history of goods and families in Courland and also the “Alphabetical Postal Address and Tour Book for Courland”.
Johann Heinrich Woldemar was a brother of Krišjānis Valdemārs . On March 12, 1849, he married Charlotte Hippel in Mitau.
