Johann Heinrich von Börstel

Johann Heinrich von Börstel (born September 28, 1644 in Dessau , † January 19, 1711 in Magdeburg ) was a royal Prussian lieutenant general , chief of infantry regiment No. 20 and commander of the Magdeburg fortress .

He was the son of the court master in Bernburg Christian Heinrich von Börstel and his wife Christine von Wuthenow.

In 1660 he went on his cavalier tour and then went into Prussian service. In 1687 he became the commander of the 7th Infantry Regiment and stayed there until 1693 when he became the commander of Magdeburg. In 1698 he took over the local infantry regiment No. 20 . During his time in Magdeburg, the German Reformed community set up a poor fund, which he had suggested. He donated 3000 thalers of start-up capital.

He fought under Elector Friedrich Wilhelm on the Rhine and in Italy. He was appointed major general in 1695 and lieutenant general in 1705. He died on January 19, 1711 and was buried in the family crypt in Bernburg.

He was married to Caritas von Jena (1658–1721), she was the daughter of Friedrich von Jena (1620–1681). The couple remained without offspring. After his death, the widow married his brother Curd Dietrich von Börstel (1650–1721).
