Johann Herbsthofer

Johann Herbsthofer (born August 3, 1866 in Hollern , Lower Austria ; † October 19, 1932 in Linz , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian politician ( CS ) and plumber . Herbsthofer was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag from 1918 to 1919 .

Life

Herbsthofer learned the installation trade, moved to Linz and, after marrying in 1891, took over an installation company founded by Johann Schirtz († 1876) in 1870, which he led excellently. Thanks to his skills, the company became known far beyond Linz. After his son Otto Herbsthofer joined the company in 1919, he took over the family business after the death of his father. Soon he was appointed to the professional body. From 1908 to 1922 he was district guild master and from 1922 and 1929 state guild master, and from 1921 to 1927 vice president of the Chamber of Commerce . He was also chairman of the trade promotion institute, co-founder of the master class for Upper Austria and founder of the regional association of electrical installers . Herbsthofer belonged to the Linz fire brigade for forty years and was its commander between 1914 and 1923.

Herbsthofer was mainly active in local politics and was a member of the Linz municipal council between 1909 and 1911 and again between 1919 and 1923. In 1918/1919 he was a member of the provisional state assembly for the Christian Social Party .
