Rohrau has always been a place of passage.

Culture and sights
- Haydn's Birthplace : The thatched-roof farmhouse has beenopen to the publicsince 1959 as the Joseph Haydn Memorial and Haydn Museum ; it is not far from Rohrau Castle.
- Rohrau Castle : late baroque castle. The facade of the castle is one of the few examples of the simple "Josephine" style that prevailed under Emperor Joseph II. The facade can be compared with that of the old Vienna General Hospital and the Josephinum (Vienna) . The Rohrau Castle itself goes back to a two-part medieval moated castle, the system of which can still be seen in the floor plan and in the remains of the moat. Only one of the towers of the castle is visible in the north corner of the entrance courtyard, but this is not accessible.
- Count Harrachsche Gemäldegalerie: In Rohrau Castle you can see Austria's largest private collection of 17th and 18th century paintings.
- Parish church of St. Vitus with the Haydn organ and the tomb of the parents of the Haydn family. The parish church and the surrounding cemetery together with the chapel at the cemetery entrance, the wrought-iron baroque cemetery gate and the impressive chestnut trees that surround the church grounds form a beautiful ensemble.
- Stephanie-Harrach-Platz : Plaque in honor of the eponym, Marian column with a kneeling depiction of Mary in prayer
- Oldest Haydn monument in the world , in front of the Rohrau municipal office. It originally stood on the so-called Haydn Island in the palace garden, which no longer exists today.
