Lanzendorf is a municipality with 1918 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Bruck an der Leitha district in Lower Austria .
geography
Lanzendorf is located in the industrial district in Lower Austria. Only 0.48% of the area of the municipality is forested. The place is divided into the two cadastral communities Oberlanzendorf and Unterlanzendorf and borders on the communities Maria Lanzendorf , Himberg , Leopoldsdorf , Vienna , Schwechat and Zwölfaxing .
history
In ancient times the area was part of the province of Pannonia .
After the " connection " of Austria into the Third Reich in 1938, the communities upper and lower Lanzendorf were as parts of the newly created District 23 Schwechat Greater Vienna incorporated. On September 1, 1954, Vienna was separated and Ober- and Unterlanzendorf were merged to form the community of Lanzendorf. A systematic review of the history of the Lanzendorf area (including Maria Lanzendorf) has been carried out since 2004.
After the dissolution of the Vienna-Umgebung district, Lanzendorf was originally intended to become part of the Mödling district from January 1, 2017 . Following objections from citizens, Lanzendorf was assigned to the Bruck an der Leitha district , to which it has belonged since January 1, 2017.

Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census , there were 1,464 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 1,341 inhabitants, 1,124 in 1981 and 1,111 in 1971.

In 2001 there were 48 non-agricultural workplaces, agricultural and forestry operations 10 according to the 1999 survey. The number of people in work at home was 670 according to the 2001 census. In 2001 the activity rate was 46.51%.
