Georg Leisek
Georg Leisek (born June 30, 1869 in Vienna , † March 15, 1936 in Maria Lanzendorf ) was an Austrian sculptor .
life and work
Leisek, son of the medalist and coin engraver Friedrich Leisek (1839–1914), studied from 1888 to 1895 with Caspar von Zumbusch and Edmund Hellmer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . At the beginning of his artistic career he worked as an employee of Rudolf Weyr and Arthur Strasser and went into business for himself in 1898. In 1903 he became a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien Society .

- Christian Doppler bust in the arcade courtyard of the University of Vienna (unveiled on September 2, 1901)
- Friedrich Schiller monument in Chernivtsi
- Relief "Expulsion from Paradise" in the vestibule of the cemetery church dedicated to St. Karl Borromeo at the Vienna Central Cemetery
- 1905: Colossal figures on the gable of the Vienna "Bürgerertheater" , Vordere Zollamtsstraße 13. (demolished)
- 1906: Relief "Christ receives the deceased" on the main portal of the Vienna Central Cemetery (together with Anselm Zinsler)
- 1910: Franz Joseph Memorial, installed in the Semmelweis Women's Clinic in Vienna since 1936
- 1910: Kaiser hunting statue in Bad Ischl
- 1914/1915: Sculptures at the (second) Dianabad in Vienna
- before 1918: Portrait bust of Archduke Franz Ferdinand , white marble, 82 × 44 × 106 cm, Heeresgeschichtliches Museum , Vienna
- 1928: Friedrich Ludwig Jahn monument on Leopoldsberg
