Johann Herrmann Tellmann
Johann Herrmann Tellmann (born October 6, 1793 in Bosau ; † January 4, 1851 there ) was a German post office clerk and mayor of Bosau.
Life
The Protestant Johann Herrmann Tellmann was born as the son of the farmer Georg Tellmann in the district of Plön in Bosau. Johann Herrmann had an older brother, Friedrich Georg, who was employed as a gardener at Plön Castle . In 1813 Tellmann married Anna Margarethe Franck, the daughter of Dersau's village school teacher , August Franck. The Tellmann couple had a son, Hans-Rudolf Tellmann (1824–1878).
Johann Herrmann Tellmann worked in the state postal service from 1809 and took over the mayor's office in his home town of Bosau on the Großer Plöner See in 1843 .
Term of office (1843-1851)
During his term of office, he sold the mayor's magnificent official residence, the so-called “de Groote Hoss”, which was built in 1806 by his predecessor under heavy burdens from taxpayers.
Tellmann considered the high expenses for this building to be disproportionate in view of the increasing poverty of the population and pushed through his plan to dissolve the official residence against strong resistance in the community. Tellmann used the proceeds from the sale to a large extent to finance the poor feeding system established under him . This measure was further supported in later years by his brother Friedrich Georg, who unnoticed grew vegetables on the property of the Plön Castle, which he made available for feeding. Feeding the poor was one of the reasons for the economic boom in Bosau due to the resulting increased health of the population.
After Tellmann's sudden death in January 1851, around which there were several rumors, he was allocated a grave in a prominent place in front of the Petrikirche in gratitude for his services to the community . The grave cross is still well preserved today.
