Johann IV. (Sponheim-Starkenburg)
Count Johann IV of Sponheim (* before 1338 ; † October 16, 1413 or April 12, 1414 ) ruled the County of Sponheim for 15 years (1398–1413).
Life
His father was Johann III. from Sponheim . Johann IV married Elisabeth von Sponheim († after April 18, 1395, buried in Himmerod ) in 1346 , daughter of Count Walram von Sponheim and Elisabeth von Katzenelnbogen . The marriage was sealed by the fathers of the two counties, because of the city Simmern a feud led to today. The Archbishop of Mainz restored peace between the two parties; In order to strengthen the close friendship, the two (Johann IV. and Elisabeth) should marry. Johann IV did not take power until he was 60.
