Johann Jakob Schaub

Johann Jakob Schaub (born December 21, 1828 in Itingen ; † August 18, 1910 in Gelterkinden ) was a Swiss teacher and local historian.

Life

Schaub, son of a trimmers and Tauner , worked after attending the Wettingen seminar led by Augustin Keller as a primary school teacher in Thürnen (1850), Arisdorf (1851–1854), Itingen (1864–1871) and Gelterkinden (1854–1864, 1871–1910 ). In the process, he became a well-known teacher throughout the upper part of the canton. In Gelterkinden he also gave French and violin lessons, held the office of community clerk and wrote a local history of the place. In 1882 he was a member of the founding committee for the publication of the newspaper “Volksstimme von Baselland”.
