Johann Jakob Stupan von Ehrenstein (* 1664 in Graz ; † January 17, 1739 in Vienna ) was an Austrian composer .

Life

Johann Jakob Stupan von Ehrenstein came from a noble family who immigrated from Graubünden to Styria . In 1710 he entered service at the Imperial Court of Vienna. At the same time he was secretary to Prince Maximilian Wilhelm von Braunschweig-Lüneburg , a brother of the Empress who lived in Vienna. Most recently he was truchsess and councilor in the service of the imperial widow Wilhelmine Amalie .

In his suite sonatas he used Italian and French stylistic devices.
