Johann Justus Kahle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Justus Kahle (also Cahle, born February 11, 1668 in Helmstedt , † June 6, 1740 in Zellerfeld ) was a German organist and composer .

Life

As the son of the master baker Bathold Kahle, he was baptized on April 12, 1668 in St. Stephen's Church in Helmstedt. Nothing is known about his youth or training. His name does not appear in the registers of the then famous Helmstedt University Academia Julia . He then became the organist at the city's main church, St. Stephani. In 1709 he moved to Zellerfeld and apparently also worked as an organist there.

Today he is only known through the church fair cantatas found in the Ostrava library by Hans-Hasso von Veltheim , which he composed around 1704 on behalf of Otto Ludwig von Veltheim.
