Carla Spletter

Carla Spletter (born November 9, 1911 in Flensburg , † October 19, 1953 in Hamburg ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Carla Spletter studied singing at the Leipzig Conservatory and made her debut as a soprano at the German Opera House in Berlin in 1932 . From 1935 to 1945 she was part of the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera . During this time she took part in numerous complete opera recordings, including in Carl Maria von Weber's Oberon (1937) and Johann Strauss' Eine Nacht in Venice (1938), which enjoy great recognition and therefore still today (in digitized form CD) can be bought. After 1945 Carla Spletter moved to Hamburg, where she worked at the State Opera thereoccurred. Carla Spletter had one last big appearance shortly before his untimely death at the age of 41 at the Grillo-Theater in Essen. There she sang the title role under the conductor Gustav König in the German premiere of Alban Berg's opera Lulu in 1953 .

The singer also acted in a total of four feature films. In the film adaptation of Friedrich von Flotow's Martha , she had her most important film success in the title role in 1936.

Since 1937 Carla Spletter was married to the doctor Peter Bischoff , who had won a gold medal as a sailor at the Olympic Games in 1936 . Spletter died of cancer in 1953.
