Johann Kazianka (born June 23, 1897 in Weizelsdorf im Rosental , municipality Feistritz im Rosental , † December 18, 1963 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian politician ( KPÖ ). Kazianka was a member of the Carinthian state parliament and regional chairman of the KPÖ-Carinthia.

Life

Kazianka completed an apprenticeship in the iron and steel works in Ferlach and began building the KPÖ in Ferlach after 1920, whereby he himself had become a member of the KPÖ in 1921. He had also been a member of the Carinthian Chamber of Labor since the 1920s and, as a representative of the KPÖ, read a memorandum on the question of the Carinthian Slovenes in the Slovene language in the Klagenfurt Chamber of Labor in 1930, whereupon all delegates left the room.

Kazianka became involved with the communists in the Slovenian underground in the 1930s and was arrested by the Yugoslav border police on August 2, 1931 after attempting to smuggle communist leaflets into Yugoslavia. He was subsequently sentenced to four years in prison and released in 1935. Ferlach steel workers protested against his detention in Sremska Mitrovica , along with other groups. During the Second World War , Kazianka was drafted into the German Wehrmacht , but evaded this order and became involved in the French and Austrian resistance movement. He was arrested and taken to the Buchenwald and Mauthausen concentration camps.

After the end of the Second World War, Kazianka rose to the position of deputy chairman of the ÖGB and between 1945 and 1963 held the office of regional chairman of the KPÖ Carinthia. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the KPÖ and represented the party between 1945 and 1963 in the Carinthian state parliament. He also worked as an editor for the newspaper Volkswille and a trade unionist.
