history
Feistritz was traditionally an industrial community: Already at the beginning of the 16th century, ore from the Bärental was being processed into iron on Feistritzbach . The industry later specialized in processing iron into wire, and from the mid-19th century onwards, products such as weaver's comb wires, furniture springs, wire ropes and telegraph wires were manufactured. Particularly noteworthy is the establishment of one of the most modern wire rod mills in Europe at the time by Ferdinand Graf Egger in 1840.
After the economic crisis in the 1930s, production in the factory, which was operated by the Krainische Industriegesellschaft from 1906, was stopped in 1933. From 1938 a battery factory moved into the disused factory halls, the batteries of which made Feistritz known worldwide under the brand name “Bear Batteries”. But even this branch of industry has not survived to the present, in 1998 production was shut down.
Today's local community was originally constituted in 1850 under the community name Suetschach, but was renamed Feistritz a year later. In the course of the municipal structural reform, Feistritz was merged with the local community Weizelsdorf in 1973 and the community name was changed to Feistritz im Rosental . On July 11, 1996 Feistritz in the Rosental was granted the right to use the designation “ market community ”.

For the Roman Catholic Church to 86.4% of the community population known for Protestant Church 2.9% and Islam 2.7%. 6.0% of the population described themselves as non-denominational.
Culture and sights
- The parish church of St. Lambertus on the southern outskirts of Suetschach is an originally Romanesque choir tower church, which was first mentioned in a document in 1364. The original choir tower was removed from the first floor, the nave vault and the west tower were built in the 15th century. During the Baroque period and around 1900, further changes were made; the onion helmet dates from 1861.
- The Filialkirche Hl. Kreuz ("agony of death chapel") is located on a small hill south of Feistritz and is a simple building built around 1720 with a western tower. The pointed helmet was put on in the 19th century.
- Feistritz Castle, also known as Gößnitzerhof, can be traced back to the late 15th century and belonged to Georg von Rottal zu Talberg (approx. 1460–1526). It served as a trade building from the 16th century and was expanded into a long, two-story building in the 18th century. During the wars between France and Austria it was badly damaged in 1813, but it was rebuilt, expanded with additions and modernized.

- Birthplace known as Preglej by Andrej Einplayer from 1772 in Suetschach No. 23
Economy and Infrastructure
To compensate for the job shortage caused by the closure of the battery factory in 1998, Mayor Hubert Gradenegger established the Feistritz industrial park in 1999. The community developed an 8 hectare industrial area with a rail connection to the Klagenfurt - Jesenice railway line ( Rosentalbahn ). Another location factor of the industrial park's proximity to the in Ferlach located HTL .
Feistritz train station in the Rosental has not been served since 2016. Even before that, there were only a few trains on the route, which is in poor condition. Freight traffic has decreased significantly over the years. In future, the section of the Rosentalbahn between Weizelsdorf and Feistritz is to be used for trolley transport.
The Drau is used economically by a run-of-river power plant owned by the Austrian Drau power plants, which produces electrical energy with a nominal output of 88 MW and a regular energy of 354 million kWh / year.
In the municipality of Feistritz im Rosental there are five volunteer fire brigades in the districts of Suetschach, St. Johann, Hundsdorf, Weizelsdorf and Feistritz.

Explanation: The silver bear in Feistritz's coat of arms stands for the Bärental, the anvil symbolizes the iron industry that has been in operation for centuries and the lance is an attribute of St. Lambertus , the patron saint of the church and parish of Suetschach. Its patronage occurs more frequently in the Eastern Alps and was particularly supported by the Eppensteiners (see e.g. St. Lambrecht Abbey ).
