Andrej Einplayer
Andreas (Andrej) Einspieler (born November 13, 1813 in Suetschach / Sveče ; † January 16, 1888 in Klagenfurt ) was a Carinthian -Slovenian enlightener, clergyman , politician and publicist , co-founder of the Slovenian publisher Hermagoras Brotherhood / Mohorjeva.
Andrej Einspiel studied theology in Klagenfurt, and then worked in the parishes of Bleiburg , Millstatt , Althofen and Gurk, among others . From 1846 he was second chaplain at the parish church in Klagenfurt, from 1852 catechist and teacher of the Slovene language at the local secondary school. In 1848 one of the founders of the Slovene Association ("Slovensko društvo"), which worked for the establishment of a national Slovene state within the Austrian Empire; In 1852 one-player founded the Hermagoras Brotherhood (Društvo sv. Mohorjeva) in Klagenfurt together with Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek and Anton Janežič and became its first chairman. For three decades he was the most important champion of this religious and cultural organization, which was important for the Carinthian Slovenes . He published several newspapers, including Slovenec (der Slovene) and the Slovenian weekly Mir as well as the German-speaking voices from Inner Austria , the Draupost , the Kärntner Blatt and the Kärntner Volksstimme.In the German-speaking organs, he repeatedly called for the right of the Slovenian ethnic group to use their language in School, offices and courts. For three electoral terms (1862–1863, 1871–1878 and 1880–1888) he represented the interests of the Carinthian Slovenes in the Carinthian state parliament as a member of the Völkermarkt electoral district . In 1876 he was also elected to the Klagenfurt municipal council, where he advocated equal rights for the Slovene language and culture.
The one-player prize is named after him. It was founded by the Council of Carinthian Slovenes (NSKS) and the Christian Cultural Association (KKS) in 1988 and is awarded to personalities "from the ranks of the majority people". Prize winners included a. Former Federal President Rudolf Kirchschläger , the historian Anton Pelinka , Bishop Egon Kapellari , the former ORF General Director Gerhard Weis , Carinthia's ex-State Director Gerhard Draxler, South Tyrol's Governor Luis Durnwalder and the Carinthian art collector Herbert W. Liaunig .
