The four-point pine jewel beetle ( Anthaxia quadripunctata ) is a beetle from the family of jewel beetles and the subfamily of Buprestinae .

description

The beetles are five to eight millimeters long. The body is black or dark brown, colored copper-like. The pronotum usually has four pits arranged in a transverse row and is almost rectangular.

Occurrence

Lives in loose coniferous forests . Is common in large parts of Europe , the Caucasus , Asia Minor, and the Middle East .

Way of life

The larvae live between bast and sapwood of conifers, preferably fir , spruce and larch .

nutrition

The beetles feed on pollen from yellow- blooming flowers , while the larvae feed on coniferous wood.
