Johann Konrad Richthausen , since 1653 Freiherr von Chaos , (born November 27, 1604 in Vienna , † July 25, 1663 in Schemnitz , today Banská Štiavnica ) was an Austrian chemist, mint specialist and patron.

Richthausen, the son of a merchant, worked as an alchemist in gold-making and is said to have shown successes, one does not know by what deception. Initially mint master in Brno and Vienna, in 1654 he became Obersterbland münzmeister in Austria under and above the Enns (roughly equivalent to today's Lower and Upper Austria). In 1659 he was appointed chief chamberlain in the Upper Hungarian (now Slovakian) mining towns. In his will he established the Chaos Foundation as heir, which established an orphanage called the Chaos Foundation House . In 1653, Richthausen was arrested for alleged financial irregularities, but was soon rehabilitated and ennobled. He chose his title of nobility himself. The judgment hall street in the 17th district of Vienna Hernals is named after him, the Stiftgasse in the 7th district new building after its foundation.
