Johann Lange (painter)

Johann Lange (* 1823 in Koblenz ; † April 19, 1908 in Aachen ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Coming from Koblenz, Lange studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1842 to 1847 . There were Rudolf Wiegmann (architecture class, 1842) and Johann Wilhelm Schirmer (Landscape listener class, 1843-1847) his teachers. Long lived in Aachen.

For the St. Nikolaus Church in Koblenz , among others , he and Peter Joseph Molitor created several large wall paintings with scenes of the Passion of Christ in the style of the Düsseldorf Nazarenes , which are located between the arcades and the cliffs.
