Johann Melchior Kohlmann , (born January 21, 1795 Bremen , † December 16, 1864 in Horn ) was a German Protestant pastor and theologian.

biography

Kohlmann was the son of Johann Kohlmann, sexton and teacher at the Michaelis School in Bremen. From 1805 to 1807 he attended the pedagogical museum in Bremen. As a boy he helped his father teach. In 1812 he graduated from the school of scholars in Bremen . 1815-1818 he studied theology at the University of Tuebingen .

In 1818 he began his professional life as an assistant preacher at the Evangelical Church of Wasserhorst in Blockland . Soon afterwards he took over the pastoral position in Mittelbüren and at the Grambker church attached there . In 1829 he became pastor in Horn at the Horner Church , where he stayed until his death.

Kohlmann was married and in his second marriage had two children, including Philipp Kohlmann , a German classical philologist and high school teacher. His grave is in the Horner cemetery.
