Johann Michael Duntze

Johann Michael Duntze (born February 28, 1779 in Bremen , † September 14, 1845 in Bremen) was a lawyer , Bremen senator and Bremen mayor .

biography

Duntze was the son of the merchant Johann Duntze (1744–1822) and the merchant's daughter Gesche, b. Löning. He was married to the senator's daughter Kunigunde Meinertzhagen.

He graduated from the pedagogy and from 1796 the Illustre grammar school in Bremen . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Marburg from 1798 and received his doctorate in 1801. jur. Then he was a court trainee .

In 1807 he succeeded his father-in-law Daniel Meinertzhagen as councilor or senator in Bremen . He was involved in the city's high court and in legislating. In 1813 he was a prefectural councilor for the prefecture in the Département du Weser during the French period in Bremen . On July 15, 1824, he became mayor of Bremen and remained in office until his death.
