Johann Philipp August Bunge

Johann Philipp August Bunge (* thirtieth June 1774 in Bernburg , † 13. April 1866 ) was a German architect of classicism .

Life

Bunge worked as a builder in his hometown of Bernburg from 1794 . In 1815 he became a building inspector and in 1830 a building officer. From 1842 he was senior building officer in Bernburg and head of the Anhalt-Bernburg construction industry. In 1853 he received the title of Privy Senior Building Officer. According to his plans and ideas from Karl Friedrich Schinkel , the Bernburg Court Theater was built in the classicism style in 1826/1827 (opened in 1827; today Carl-Maria-von-Weber-Theater ). The design of the church of St. Stephanus in Bernburg-Dröbel - also built in a classicist style from 1828 to 1829 - comes from his pen. He belonged to the Bernburg Freemason Lodge Alexius for permanence and was their master of the chair between 1828 and 1852 .
