Johann Philipp Käfer
Johann Philipp Käfer (born April 21, 1672 in Schney ; † January 24, 1728 in Pforzheim ) was a German baroque composer , organist and conductor.
Life
From 1718 to 1722, Johann Philipp Käfer was the successor of Giuseppe Boniventi (1670–1727), a pupil of Giovanni Llimini, as court conductor of the margravial Baden court orchestra with the margraves of Baden . In 1722 there was a dispute with Margrave Karl Wilhelm over salary and vacation issues , which led to Käfer's dismissal. His successor was Johann Melchior Molter .

In addition to cantatas and sonatas for four instruments, Käfer composed the suite Musicalische Battaille , as well as a series of stage pieces that are hardly known today and in some cases no longer preserved.
