Johann Preuss (theologian)

Johann Preuss (* 1620 in Guben , † 1696 in Selchow ; also Johann Prussian ) was a German sozinianischer theologian and preacher.

Life

Preuss, whose father was white tanner , studied at the University of Königsberg , where he matriculated on September 17, 1644 . Next he studied at universities in Netherlands . He then spent his time in Poland and returned to Germany in 1656, meanwhile he had become a Socinian . Because of this, he moved back to Poland and became a preacher there . When the Socians had to leave Poland in 1660, Preuss came with them to Brandenburg . He spent a period in prison in 1664 for his efforts to make proselytes . He then worked as a preacher in a social community in Selchow, a place that was in what was then Brandenburg, near the Silesian border.
