Life

Johann Rudolf Tillier was born in 1667 as the son of the Vogts von Aarberg and Oron, Johann Anton Tillier, and his wife Johanna Steiger. His older brother was the officer Johann Franz Tillier . Her family, the Tilliers , had belonged to the upper class of Bern since the 15th century. Johann Rudolf Tillier initially received a legal education. In 1699 he married the pastor's daughter Johanna Catharina Malacrida.

Tillier became a Bernese Grand Councilor in 1701 . From 1707 to 1715 he was governor of Aubonne. In 1717 he became Vogt for the German Order Coming in Köniz, 1718 Small Council , 1725 Kirchmeier and Sechzehner, 1727 Salt Director and 1737 Venner zu Pfistern as well as President of the School Council.
