Johann Franz Tillier
Johann Franz von Tillier (* July 13, 1662 ; † March 29, 1739 ) was a Swiss officer in the Dutch and Austrian service and came from the Bernese patrician family Tillier .
Life
Johann Franz Tillier was an officer in the Dutch service, in 1702 a major in the Austrian service and in 1708 a colonel in the Erlach infantry regiment. In 1717/18 he took part in campaigns against the Turks. In 1723 he became Lieutenant General Field Marshal, temporarily fortress commander of Peterwardein (on the Danube) and Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1715 he was raised to the rank of imperial knighthood and in 1723 to imperial count. In 1732 he became governor of Freiburg im Breisgau.
