Dushun Mosley

Dushun Mosley (* 1948 in Chicago Heights , Illinois ) is an American jazz musician ( drums , percussion).

Mosley grew up in a musical family in Phoenix, Illinois ; his grandparents played the piano and the banjo; his father was a drummer and occasionally performed with Muddy Waters . He first played with Henry Butler . In 1976 he moved to Chicago, where he wanted to work as a studio musician . The following year he became a member of the AACM and was then part of Steve Colson & The Unity Troupe , with whom he went to the recording studio in 1978. Since the mid-1980s he played a. a. with the 8 Bold Souls (various albums since 1987, e.g. Ant Farm , 1994). He is also a member of Douglas Ewarts Inventions , the Shadow Vignettes , the 5 after 7 Project and the AACM Experimental Ensemble . In 2009 he performed with the AACM Great Black Music Ensemble , of which he is also a member, at the Umbria Jazz Festival . He heads The Vizitors and the Signature Group .

In the field of jazz he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 1978 and 2009, also with Vandy Harris Jr and Dave Gordon (2007). He can also be heard on Fred Anderson's album A Night at The Velvet Lounge - Made in Chicago (2007).
