Johann Rudolf von Sinner
Johann Rudolf von Sinner (born June 27, 1830 in Bern ; † February 26, 1901 there ) was a Swiss officer and conservative politician .
Von Sinner attended the Engineering Academy in Vienna from 1845 to 1850 , was an Austrian officer of genius from 1850 to 1860 , became a captain in 1855 and took part in the Battle of Solferino in 1859 . In 1862 he joined the federal general staff , became a colonel in 1871 and was chief of the general staff of the federal staff office from 1879 to 1882 . As chief of staff, Sinner resigned in connection with a duel affair . From 1866 to 1888 he was President of the Bernese Citizens' Council , from 1878 to 1882 a conservative Grand Councilor and from 1890 to 1901 Bern City Councilor and President of the New Girls School .
