Daniel Sprüngli (born January 6, 1721 in Bern ; † September 11, 1801 there ) was a Swiss ornithologist .

Sprüngli studied theology at the Bern Academy from 1735 , where he was ordained in 1747 . From 1750 to 1758 he was a pastor's helper in Bern and then pastor in Stettlen . In 1775 he retired for health reasons and from then on lived on Gut Baumgarten in Bern.

Sprüngli is considered a great connoisseur of the Swiss bird world; In addition to a fossil collection, he put on a collection of bird species, which the Bern City Library acquired after his death . Today only the cataloging of the collection from 1804 by Karl Friedrich August Meisner is preserved (manuscript Ornithologia Helvetica in the Burgerbibliothek Bern ).
