Ludwig Stantz
Ludwig Stantz or Ludwig Stanz (born September 18, 1801 in Bern , † April 20, 1871 ibid) was a Swiss doctor , glazier and glass painter in Constance and especially in Bern.
Life
Punching his doctorate in 1825 for Dr. med. in Göttingen . From around 1834 he studied glass production and glass painting in Black Forest huts and in Munich . He then worked as a glass painter in Constance , moved to Bern in 1848 , where he joined the company as a merchant , became a civic councilor in 1850 and president of the library commission there in 1856.
His work includes cabinet windows for the Society of Pfistern , the Bernese cantonal coat of arms for today's Bundeshaus West and stained glass for the Bern Minster . He also worked as a restorer and heraldist and wrote specialist articles on it. In historicism he was one of the revivals of Swiss stained glass .
