Johann Rudolf von Wämpl (* 1638 ; † December 9, 1704 ) was the electoral Bavarian secret council chancellor and conference councilor.

Johann Rudolf von Wämpl was born in 1638 as the son of the court chamber councilor Johann Wämpl. He began his career after studying law in Ingolstadt as a regimental councilor in Landshut. Appointed Hofrat in 1666, he became a Privy Councilor and Conference Councilor under Elector Ferdinand Maria and Max Emanuel . In 1691 he became Vice Chancellor of the Privy Council. From 1693 he was Oberlehenspropst, from 1694 Chancellor of the Privy Council, in both offices as the successor to Kaspar von Schmid , whereby Wämpl continued to be titled only as Vice Chancellor. Since Schmid's departure and especially due to the elector's long absence in the Spanish Netherlands, the importance of internal administration in Bavaria has declined sharply.

In 1695 Wämpl was raised to baron of Possenhofen and Pöcking. His death coincided with the beginning of the Imperial Administration in Bavaria , so that the office of Council Chancellor and Vice Chancellor was vacant for ten years. Max Emanuel then appointed neither a new Council Chancellor nor a Vice Chancellor of the Privy Council until the end of his reign in 1726.
