Johann Schmölz (born May 28, 1985 in Tulln ) is an Austrian handball player .

Career

Born in Tulln, he started playing handball at UHC Tulln in his youth . With the Rosenstädtern he was able to win the national championship title in 2002 with the under 16 as well as with the under 18 team. Until the 2008/09 season he was active for the Lower Austrians in the Handball League Austria . During this time he was able to win the ÖHB Cup twice . This enabled Schmölz to gain international experience in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2004/05 and 2007/08 . After the club struggled with financial problems and thereby withdrew to the regional league , the 1.85 meter tall backcourt player moved to UHK Krems . During his time at Krems , he was able to win the ÖHB Cup again in the 2009/10 season and then again took part in the 2010/11 European Cup Winners' Cup. At the start of the 2013/14 season he moved to Union St. Pölten in the Handball Bundesliga Austria , in his first season he was able to secure the championship title and was promoted to the HLA.
