Johann Wuwer

Johann "Hans" Wuwer (born July 23, 1922 in Gladbeck ; † July 11, 2009 ) was a German economist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and the Franciscan Mission College St. Antonius Bardel as well as graduating from high school in 1940 at the humanistic grammar school in Gelsenkirchen , Wuwer initially did Reich labor service and then took part in World War II as a soldier . After the end of the war he worked in the Zipsendorf lignite mine for four months . In 1946 he began to study economics at the University of Cologne , which he finished in 1949 with a degree in economics.

Wuwer joined the IG Bergbau und Energie in 1946 . From 1950 to 1952 he was employed by Mathias Stinnes AG , the State Statistical Office of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the audit department of Hüttenwerk Ruhrort-Meiderich AG . In 1952 he moved to Rheinstahl Bergbau AG as authorized signatory , advanced to Labor Director in 1967 and became a member of the company's board in 1970. Since 1976 he has also been a member of the Executive Board of Thyssen Energie GmbH .

Wuwer had been a member of the SPD since 1950.

Wuwer was a council member of the city of Gladbeck. In the course of the local reorganization, he worked from January 1 to May 4, 1975 as a representative for the tasks of the City Council of Bottrop / Gladbeck / Kirchhellen . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1980. In parliament he represented the constituency of Bottrop - Gladbeck .

Public office

From March 29, 1963 to October 17, 1965, Wuwer was Lord Mayor of Gladbeck.
