Johann Zeh

Johann Zeh (born October 10, 1816 - † May 5, 1882 ) was an Austrian engineer and locomotive designer.

Johann Zeh was a mechanical engineer and designer at Siglschen Lokomotivfabrik . In 1857 he became chief engineer at Empress Elisabeth Bahn .

Zeh invented the Zehsche flap named after him , a throttle flap in the blowpipe that acted as a counter-vapor brake on Austrian locomotives ( kkStB 12 and 21 ) . In addition, in 1854 he designed the first Austrian locomotives with single-axle bogies, which later became known under the name Bisselgestell .
