Johann von Letmathe

Johann von Letmathe (* in the 16th century; † in the 17th century) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Johann von Letmathe was the son of Temmo von Letmathe zu Langen and his wife Jaspara Droste zu Vischering . She was the daughter of the Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering . His brother Franz (1575–1638) was a subdeacon and canon in Münster. Heidenreich , his other brother, subdeacon and cathedral dean in Münster.

Act

On August 22, 1577, Johann received by the Turnar Rudolf von Munster a Dompräbende and took the next day held by the free stipend as Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering . On December 11, 1589, Johann presented a certificate that he had been ordained as a subdeacon and took possession of the Overbeck fiefdom of the cathedral . On February 4, 1596 , he resigned in favor of Vice-Dominus Dietrich von Plettenberg . He gave the benefice to his brother Franz. With the marriage speech on February 18, 1596, Johann Agnes Valke zu Rockel married . The future canon Heinrich von Letmathe emerged from the marriage.

Others

Johann was the donor of the statue of John the Evangelist and Saint Agnes . These stand, with the Letmathe and Valke coats of arms, at the entrance to the Stephanschor of the cathedral in Münster .
