Franz von Letmathe

Franz von Letmathe (born October 15, 1575 ; † April 12, 1638 ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and canon in Münster .

Life

Franz von Letmathe was born as the son of Temmo von Letmathe zu Langen and his wife Jaspara Droste zu Vischering . She was the daughter of the Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering . With the receipt of the tonsure on May 7, 1593, he was prepared for a spiritual life. On February 7 In 1596 he took after the presentation by the Turnar Dietrich von Plettenberg , the Dompräbende possession to the previously his brother John had renounced. Heidenreich , his other brother, was cathedral dean in Münster. He was emancipated on February 27 with the revolt to the Letmathe, Droste, Voss and Hoberg families. Franz lived in a concubinage . On February 17, 1614, he confirmed that he had removed his concubine from his curia. Since this did not leave the city, a committee of inquiry was set up. Franz was punished. On November 9, 1614, he confirmed that his concubine was now living in Lengerich. On September 3, 1616, Franz received the minor ordinations and the next day became a subdeacon . On March 1, 1618, he opted for the Archdeaconate St. Martini of the late Canon Hermann Spieß. On November 2, 1622 he was appointed the successor of the Provost von Elverfeldt as assessor of the Pfennigkammer . On April 15, 1638, Franz was buried in the vicinity of the cathedral in Münster . A short time later, on May 5th, his son Franz asked to leave him in the garden in front of the Neubrückentor.
