Dietrich von Plettenberg (* 1609 ; † 1669 in Hildesheim ) was canon in Münster and Hildesheim .

Life

Dietrich von Plettenberg came from the original noble family von Plettenberg , one of the oldest and most important in Westphalia . Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from him. He was the son of Walter Heinrich von Plettenberg zu Nehlen and his wife Anna Elisabeth von Oer zu Nottbeck . With the receipt of the tonsure on February 27, 1638, he was prepared for a spiritual life and presented on February 20, 1642 for the cathedral priest of the late canon Adolf Wolff von Metternich. At the request of his eponymous cousin Dietrich, Münster cathedral waiter and Paderborn cathedral provost , he took possession of the prebende without having to meet the prescribed waiting period of 21 days. This led to a long-term trial before the Rota in Rome . This had an unfavorable end for him in 1649. Dietrich also owned a cathedral canonical in Hildesheim.
