Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering (* 1508 ; † 1588 ) was Droste in the offices of Ahaus and Horstmar .

Life

Origin and family

Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering was born as the son of the married couple Johann Droste zu Vischering and Elisabeth von Münster. He married Jaspara von Hoberg zu Kaldenhofe. Both had Vischering Castle (re) built in 1552 . The marriage resulted in two daughters and two sons, including the son Heinrich (also called Heidenreich) and the daughter Jaspara, who was married to Temmo von Letmathe. They were the parents of the canons Johann , Franz and Heidenreich von Letmathe .

Professional background

Heidenreich marked the beginning of the 250-year Drosten era from Droste zu Vischering in the offices of Ahaus and Horstmar. These extended from the Lower Rhine to the western Münsterland and belonged to the territory of the bishopric of Münster in the domain of the prince-bishops . The official droste had the task of leading the administration in the respective districts. On August 9, 1549, Heidenreich undertook to exercise the office of Drosten, thus replacing Johannes von Raesfeld , who held this office from 1542. He remained in this important position until his son Heinrich was appointed on September 28, 1578. The following generations provided the Drosten in the offices of Ahaus and Horstmar without interruption until the demise of the Münster bishopric after the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss .
