Heidenreich grew up as the son of the married couple Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering and Cornelia von Ketteler zu Hovestadt in one of the oldest and most important Westphalian noble families in the Principality of Münster , from which several Catholic officials and dignitaries as well as the hereditary corpses emerged. His brother Adolf Heinrich was provost, Gottfried was cathedral cantor. He married Margarethe von Raesfeld zu Romberg on October 1, 1612. From the marriage are the sons Heidenreich , Goswin , Gottfried Droste zu Vischering (Grand Prior) and Adolf Heinrich (Canon, * 1616, † 1666) emerged.

Professional background

Like his father, Heidenreich converted from Lutheranism to the Catholic Church. They were loyal supporters of the bishops Ernst von Bayern and Ferdinand von Bayern . He went to Rome on May 1, 1599 to study at the Collegium Germanicum . For several years he also studied in Münster and Würzburg and was emancipated as a canon in Münster on June 19, 1603 . He resigned and started a family. On April 29, 1616 he was appointed as Drost of the offices of Ahaus and Horstmar, again on September 29, 1620. He died in 1643 and was replaced by his son Heidenreich in office.
