Johann von Vorhauser
Johann Ritter von Vorhauser (* 1811 in Kufstein ; † December 16, 1890 in Innsbruck ) was a top civil servant in the Tyrolean administration, who temporarily headed the Lieutenancy of Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
origin
He came from a family that in old times held the office of princely customs collector at Lueg am Brenner . His father was the mineralogist and imperial building inspector Johann Vorhauser , knight of the Franz Joseph Order († 1865).
Act
After completing his studies, he started as an intern at the kk Gubernium in Innsbruck. After an internship in Trento and a job in the court chancellery in Vienna, he moved to the presidium of the Lieutenancy in Innsbruck under governor Count Bissingen . In the more than 40 years in which he served as presidential secretary, governor and councilor, he served seven holders of this highest imperial office in the countries. During the tenure of governor Count Eduard Taaffe he was awarded the Leopold Order and consequently raised to the nobility . After Count Taaffe had changed from the post of governor to that of the prime minister, Vorhauser was the head of the governorship at the head of the country's political administration until Baron Bohuslav von Widmann was appointed governor. Soon after he took office, he retired. Vorhauser was made an honorary citizen by the city of Innsbruck in 1880 .

Johann Vorhauser and his wife Hedwig, née Erler († 1906), lived at Museumstrasse 5. They are buried in the family crypt on Innsbruck's Westfriedhof .
