Johanna André (born June 30, 1861 in Doberan ; † June 23, 1926 in Braunschweig ) was a German theater actress , opera singer ( soprano ) and vocal teacher .

Life

André was the daughter of the grand ducal court opera singer Anton André , who was a popular member of the Schwerin court stage . Even as a child she showed musical talent and not yet 17 years old, she went to the stage. Ms. Hesse-Bürg , a student of Pauline Viardot-Garcia, took over her vocal training . After André first appeared in Berlin as "Ännchen", she was hired by Franz Abt in 1879 for the court theater in Braunschweig. There she made her debut as "Alice". She was very popular with the Braunschweig audience. In 1882 the artist was invited to sing the first flower girl at the first Parsifal performance in Bayreuth . Their performance met the strictest requirements. She also worked as a singing teacher in Braunschweig. She died in 1926.
