Johanna Kampmann friend
Johanna Kampmann-Freund (born March 25, 1888 in Vienna ; † July 1, 1940 in Vienna) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist.
life and work
Johanna Kampmann-Freund was trained at the Vienna Women's Academy and in Munich. From 1910 to 1936 she mainly participated in the exhibitions of the Association of Austrian Women Artists in Vienna. From 1913 she was a member of the Künstlerbund and in 1927 was the first woman to receive the Austrian State Prize for her picture Hagar . In addition to her artistic work, she worked full-time as a dental technician , but was banned from the profession by the National Socialists in 1939. In 1916 she married Lieutenant Colonel K. Kampmann, who died in 1923.
