Johanna Mangold

Johanna Mangold (born 1985 in Berlin ) is a German opera dramaturge .

Life

Mangold was born in Berlin and grew up in Munich. There she studied music theater dramaturgy with Klaus Zehelein at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding and art history at the LMU .

During her studies she did internship at the Aalto-Theater Essen, the Royal Opera House London and the De Nationale Opera Amsterdam. A scholarship for her thesis brought her to the Kurt Weill Foundation New York and to Yale.

She had her first permanent engagement as a dramaturge from 2012 to 2015 at the Leipzig Opera . In the summer of 2014 she worked as a guest dramaturge at the Latvian National Opera in Riga for Rigoletto . She also worked on Philip Glass ' Akhenaten with Laura Scozzi as a guest at the Bonn Theater in spring 2018 . In autumn 2018 she was dramaturge at the Gran Teatro de La Habana , Havana , for Georges Bizet's Carmen .

From 2015 to December 2017 she was dramaturge at the Theater Augsburg under the artistic director Juliane Votteler . From March 2019 she will be permanent at Theater Basel .
