Johanna Schoenfelder

Johanna Schoenfelder (born September 3, 1945 in Coburg ; † May 2, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

education

After graduating from high school, Johanna Schoenfelder studied from 1966 to 1972 at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. In 1971 she was a master class student for free graphics with Gerhart Bergmann . 1972–1973 she received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service for Barcelona , where she studied art history at the University of Barcelona.

life and work

Since 1973 Schoenfelder worked freelance in Berlin, where he was a member of the HAPP group , which included Dora von Steiger , Oskar Gonschorr , Dieter Schäfer , André Sprankenis and Wilhelm Weiss . The French writer and playwright Armand Gatti (1924–2017) dedicated the texts for their exhibition catalog "Visions of a City" to this group of artists in 1972 during his stay in Berlin. In the foreword Gatti writes: ... Do you remember van Gogh, who invited Gauguin to found a community of artists who should live from their pictures. He had only sold one in his entire life.

Johanna Schoenfelder's works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. Extensive reports about the artist came on television in the program "Berlinische Reports" and the "deutsche bauzeitung" 2/1977 and 11/1982. Johanna Schoenfelder's works have been published in various magazines such as DAIDALOS Berlin Architectural Journal 13/1984, "Neue Berliner Musikzeitung", 1/1992, cover illustration "Berliner Enzyklopädie", Dieter Hildebrandt , Hanser Verlag, Munich 1991. The following special editions were published in collaboration with the Galerie Gärtner in Berlin: “Kuppel”, color etching with aquatint from 1979 in an edition of 50, “Turmbau zu B .... Stylistically, Schoenfelder's works can be assigned to Fantastic Realism . In her etchings and colored pencil drawings , Schoenfelder preferred architectural details, views with ornamental decorations and stage spaces as the predominant motifs .
