The Johannes Nepomuk Chapel is on Kornmarktstrasse near Kornmarktplatz in the city of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . The chapel of St. Johannes Nepomuk belongs to the parish church Bregenz-Herz Jesu in the deanery Bregenz of the diocese of Feldkirch . The chapel is a listed building .

history

After a life-saving from Lake Constance by a raftsman, the theologian Franz Wilhelm Haas donated the building of a chapel, which at that time stood directly on the lake. The circular chapel was built in 1757 according to plans by Johann Michael Beer von Bildstein . Franz Wilhelm Haas was buried in front of the high altar. The chapel was restored in 1951/1953.

architecture

The baroque central building over a circular floor plan has no structural emphasis on the chancel. The facade has a circumferential base band, flat wall pilasters and arched windows. The chapel closes with a lantern and an onion dome over a curved flat dome roof.
