Johann Michael Beer from Bildstein
Johann Michael Beer von Bildstein (born May 20, 1696 in Au ; † July 3, 1780 in Bildstein ) was an Austrian master builder from Vorarlberg , son of Franz Beer von Au and student of Franz Beer von Bleichten ( Auer Guild ). He married Christina Natter from Bildstein in 1723 and became a citizen of this community near Bregenz . The addition of Bildstein is not a title of nobility, but serves to distinguish Johann Michael Beer from Bleichten , the son of Franz Beer von Bleichten, to whom he was not related.
The Fischingen monastery received the east and south wings according to his plans. His most important work, however, was the monastery church in St. Gallen as the successor to Peter Thumb , for which he mainly built the monk choir and the east facade.
