Johannes Andreas von Wagner

Johannes Andreas Freiherr von Wagner (born September 5, 1833 in Freiberg ; † May 26, 1912 in Blasewitz ; pseudonym: Johannes Renatus ) was a German writer and dialect poet.

Life

His parents were Thomas Freiherr von Wagner (1798-1856) and his wife Emilie Marianne geb. Carl (1794-1860). He spent 50 years as a road construction and hydraulic engineering inspector in Bautzen and was also a professor at the Polytechnic in Braunschweig.

Wagner was a member of the board of the Bautzner Gewerbeverein and founded the Oberlausitzer Gewerbeblatt . In addition to specialist books, he published stories and, above all, his dialect stories. Allerlee from dar Äberlausitz , which is probably his best-known work, consists of 10 volumes, which are mostly written in Oberlausitz dialect . He died in 1912 in what is now the Dresden district of Blasewitz .

family

He married on June 14, 1864 in Grimma Doris Wunder (* July 9, 1834 - March 30, 1908), a daughter of the rector Eduard Wunder . From her marriage there were three sons:

  • Paul Martin (born March 15, 1865), twin, professor at the Portuguese School of Applied Arts in Guimaraes
  • Max Gotthold (born November 21, 1868)
