Johannes Eglin

Johannes Eglin (born January 8, 1775 in Ormalingen ; † June 19, 1836 there ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Eglin was mayor from 1815 to 1832 with interruptions. From 1803 to 1831 he sat on the Grand Council in Basel . Half reluctantly, he was elected to the provisional government of Basel in January 1831 and was then repeatedly on the run, including in Alsace .

Eglin was a member of the first district administrator in 1832 and a senior president. Between 1832 and 1834 he sat on the government council . During the weeks before total separation , in the summer of 1833, he campaigned as a participant in the federal-led mediation negotiations for the rescue of cantonal unity. From 1834 to 1836 he was again in the district administrator.
