Johannes Haas-Heye
Johannes Haas-Heye (born March 16, 1912 in London ; † September 30, 2008 in Bonn-Bad Godesberg ) was a German journalist and diplomat. He was one of the "pioneers" of the new media in post-war Germany.
Life
Haas-Heye was one of three children of the fashion designer Otto Ludwig Haas-Heye and his wife Viktoria Ada Astrid Agnes Countess zu Eulenburg , a daughter of Philipp zu Eulenburg . His two sisters were Ottora Maria Countess Douglas-Reimer (1910–2001) and the resistance fighter Libertas Schulze-Boysen (1913–1942).
In 1945/46 he set up the German news agency DENA in Bad Nauheim and was one of the first German press observers at the Nuremberg war crimes trials . He had already worked for United Press in the pre-war period, and from 1948 he became its editor-in-chief in Germany.
Haas-Heye later switched to the diplomatic service and was, among other things, press officer at the German embassy in London , cultural advisor at the German embassy in Ankara and employee of the German mission to the United Nations .
