Johannes Hubertus Leonardus de Haas
Johannes Hubertus Leonardus de Haas (born March 25, 1832 in Hedel , † August 6, 1908 in Königswinter ) was a Dutch landscape and animal painter .
Haas was a pupil of the animal painter Pieter Frederik van Os in Haarlem, spent four years there, then in Oosterbeek, devoted to landscape and animal studies. In 1857 he moved to Brussels. In 1861 he received the gold medal at the Utrecht exhibition for his effective painting: after the flood. His group of animals, donkeys in the dunes , was awarded the gold medal at the international art exhibition in Munich in 1869.
At the exhibition in 1879, Haas was represented with four animal pieces:
- Cattle on the riverside in Holland ,
- At the approach of the storm ,
- Noon rest on the shores of the North Sea
and those driven home by a girl
- The day laborer's cows .
Other animal pieces of his, which are broadly and vigorously treated, are in the Museum in Brussels, in the Museum in Liège and in the Berlin National Gallery ( cows on pasture ).
